About Black Spade
The idea behind Black Spade Wines has always been about having fun, and spending quality time with friends and family, while making some great wine as well. I have always enjoyed a good relaxing game of cards with friends. (As well as games with some chips on the table too!) That’s where the name Black Spade comes from. Playing Cards has even spilled over into the wine making process, with games of cards being played as the grapes are going through the pressing process. Sitting around drinking the previous release while we play cards and press the future of black spade wine. How’s that for a wine making process!
I have always enjoyed drinking wine, but up until a couple years after I left school, I really hadn’t thought about making my own. From working in wineries since I left school (Bethany Wines, Rusden, and even Clos Du Bois in America), I have learnt a lot about the process, from the vineyard through to the cellar. This has all helped to spark my interest and love for the ever growing, and ever changing wine industry.
The Barossa is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and also one of the best places to grow grapes and make wine. You get some great characteristics come out in wine from the Barossa region, so I hope that you enjoy the experience, and have some fun while drinking it too!
