About The Fruit

The 2005 Cabernet was picked from the quiet village of Greenock, in the North West corner of the valley. With the vineyard nestled against the side of a hill, the vines get plenty of sun to ripen the berries. This block is great to pick or prune as it has a panoramic view of the Barossa Valley, sometimes you get so caught up in the view, that you forget to work!

About The Wine

The 2005 Cabernet has a very strong crisp palate with a fruity nose. The rich, fertile soil in the Greenock area helps to enhance the flavor in the berries, producing a rich, aromatic red.

I love my Cabernet, and this one continues with a great line of Cabernet that has been produced in the Barossa. I hope you enjoy it.

I have always been a fan of Barossa Cabernet. People say that the Barossa is Shiraz country, I believe it is more Cabernet than Shiraz. The Cabernet from 04 was picked from the foothills of the Barossa Ranges, in a beautiful little village called Bethany.

About The Wine

A good blend of French and American oak has opened up this little ripper of a Cabernet so that the full aromas and textures of the Cabernet berries can bounce around your palate. The Cabernet is a wine that you can enjoy in the next 2 years, but cellaring for at least 8 will see the best potential come from this wine. A good wine to enjoy around the barbecue with some friends, or around the table with a good game of cards.

The vintage for 2005 was similar to that of 2004. The warm summer gave way for a great ripening period for the grapes. This allowed the fruit to really show off what it is capable of.

The Shiraz for the 2005 vintage comes from the Greenock area. Hidden away in the North West corner of the Barossa Valley, this area has some of the best fruit that the Barossa Valley produces each year.

About The Wine

The Shiraz is drinking extremly well only a week after bottling. It is showing rich chocolate flavours with a refreshing overtone of french oak. This wine is drinking extremely well now, but wait for another 3 to 5 years and you will see this wine really open up!

2004 was a great year in the Barossa. With the vines getting great ripening weather over the summer, the wines that were produced were some of the best that the Barossa has ever seen. The grapes were sourced from the river flats of the Para River which meanders through the Barossa.

About The Wine

The Black Spade Shiraz has come out trumps. The flavours and aroma that you get from this bottle are amazing. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so I won’t go into great lengths about what you should get out of this wine. Wine tasting is an individual thing. I would recommend cellaring for at least 5 – 10 years to get the best out of the wine, but the wine is drinking extremely well right now.
